About Course

Éascaitheoir Báis: Walking the Threshold is a 12-week, hybrid end-of-life doula training grounded in Irish ritual, trauma-informed practice, and hands-on death care. This course teaches you expert knowledge and hands-on skills, but it is most importantly a sacred passage into deep listening, ceremony, and presence at the threshold.

Rooted in Celtic seasonal wisdom and aligned with Samhain to Imbolc, Éascaitheoir Báis calls us into personal transformation and professional foundation to walk with the dying, hold grief in community, and reweave end-of-life care into everyday life.

We blend somatic awareness, storytelling, grief literacy, ritual, and therapeutic tools to equip you to serve others while meeting your own mortality, ancestry, and healing journey along the way.

This is a unique end-of-life doula training in Ireland and the UK for those drawn to meaningful, land-rooted, inclusive death care – in homes, hospices, hospitals, and communities.

The opening retreat, Grandmother Calling, from 31st October to 2nd November initiates us into a weekend of ancestral death care focussing on a well-rounded mix of ancient tradition and modern wisdom around all things death, grief, and trauma. We look at why washing, shrouding, and waking a loved one has profound effect on the psyche, and how practices like keening can help us move through the fog of grief in a more embodied way.
The closing retreat, Echoing the Future, from 31st January to 2nd February catches us in the acknowledgement of our own death, and the practicalities needed to navigate dying in the modern world. During a weekend of End of Life planning, re-telling of our lifestory, and reflecting on service-centred business practices, we ready ourself to embark into a practice that is highly attuned to individual strengths and purpose!

By the end of this training, you will have a certificate of completion that allows you to get insurance and join a doula directory as well as a functional doula bag with items that help you show up in sustainable ways. This online library will remain for the years to come, so you can continue to lean into community and resources as your practice evolves. All graduates also qualify for reduced rates when availing of supervision from Patricia.
