Trauma Club – Learn, Process, and Explore

We all journey through life with a story that’s narrated through a complex, dymaic system of lenses shaped by genetics, past experiences, societal conditions, and life overall. Until we stop and pause to reflect, life can feel like a adventurous story that we have little control over.

Trauma Club is a six-week educational and experiential journey based on Judith Herman’s three-stage model of trauma recovery: Safety and Stabilisation, Remembrance and Mourning, and Reconnection and Integration.

Each session includes grounding, psychoeducation, somatic and creative practices, and opportunities for reflection and integration. The course is designed to help you understand trauma deeply while staying within your window of tolerance and building a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

In the first stage, Safety and Stabilisation, we focus on understanding what trauma is and how it affects the nervous system. You’ll learn practical tools to build internal and external safety, regulate your body, and develop the resources needed to approach healing at a pace that feels manageable and safe enough.

In the second stage, Remembrance and Mourning, we explore how trauma shapes emotional learning, core beliefs, and the protective patterns that helped you survive. Rather than reliving painful experiences, we work gently with the impact of trauma and begin to mourn what happened, what didn’t happen, and what you needed but did not receive.

In the third stage, Reconnection and Integration, we turn toward the future. We explore attachment patterns, safety behaviours, boundaries, values, and identity, and begin to imagine a life that is no longer organised around survival. Integration involves developing greater coherence, self-compassion, and choice.

Across six sessions, we will cover:

  • What trauma is and how it develops
  • Nervous system regulation and the window of tolerance
  • Emotional learning, core beliefs, and protective parts
  • Mourning the impact of trauma
  • Attachment, relationships, and boundaries
  • Reconnection, meaning, and future possibility

By the end of Trauma Club, you will have a clearer understanding of how trauma affects the body and mind, practical tools for regulation and healing, and a coherent framework for moving forward. If you work in high trauma fields, you’ll have insight into possibilities for preventing trauma to occur. If you’re here because a loved one is struggling, I hope that you emerge with more patience and capacity to journey with them. and if you’re here because you love personal growth, then you can think of this course as first aid training for when shit hits the fan – as it often does in life.

Your story continues, but you now hold the pen.
